The Bulgarian National Revival (vazrazdane) represents one of the many national movements in Europe in the 19th century. According to the well-known definition by Ernest Gellner, nationalists adhere to "the political principle, which holds that the political and the national unit should be congruent. Nationalism as a sentiment," Gellner continues, "is the feeling of anger aroused by the violation of this principle, or the dealing of satisfaction aroused by its fulfilment."¹

La traduction comme miroir du rapport à l’identité nationale et à l’altérité en France et en Bulgarie

Dans cet article je me propose d'étudier la manière dont la traduction reflète le rapport à l'identité culturelle et nationale et à l'altérité, en prenant pour exemples les littératures française et bulgare, du IX^e siècle au XIX^e siècle, en passant par la Renaissance, d'une part, et le Réveil national bulgare, d'autre part ; je m'appuie ici sur le discours des traducteurs en tant que révélateur des représentations qu'ont les traducteurs français et bulgares du statut de leur propre langue/culture, mais aussi de celles à partir desquelles ils traduisent, ainsi que de leur manière d'appréhender « soi » et « les autres ».

Social identity and social action in Wales: The role of group emotions

Context

We examine the emotional bases of Welsh identities in relation to social action and political participation. The role of group emotion in social identity and social action has been neglected in social identity research on nationality. We investigate the importance of emotion as a product of identity and context, as a mediator of social action, and as a basis for collective identity definition itself.
